Our History

Most importantly, about providing compassion and care to the communities we serve.
It started in 1986 when Ashok Jobanputra purchased Cook’s Pharmacy in New Hamburg and Wellesley from Walter Cook.
His son, Poshin Jobanputra, was destined to be an independent pharmacist, with his father and mother being pharmacists. Poshin started working in the family pharmacy at 12 years old, dusting shelves and eventually being promoted to cashier. He pursued his calling, graduated from pharmacy school in 1999, and worked at Cook’s Wellesley and New Hamburg until his own Waterloo store, Cook’s Remedys RX, opened in 2006.
His passion for independent pharmacy and the ability to provide clinical services with personalized relationships was the driving force behind opening his first location in Waterloo.
Since then, Poshin has expanded to five pharmacy locations across Waterloo Region, New Hamburg, and Wellesley.

All of our pharmacists have completed their Bachelor of Pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy degrees and have been accredited by the Ontario College of Pharmacists.

At Cook’s Pharmacy, we specialize in providing full-service prescription dispensing. Alongside our core offering, we provide our customers with additional services such as education and counselling. We believe there is immense power in education and because of this, we strive to empower our customers with as much information about their medications and conditions as possible.
Specialized Care at Each Location
Each of our Cook’s Pharmacy locations are equipped with a specialist in a certain area of health.
This allows us to share resources and patient histories across our locations while providing our customers with specialized care for their conditions. This also allows us to supply products to various locations through relationships with multiple wholesalers.
